For a glass of 250 ml Soy Vanilla Kefir:
1 tsp. kefir grains, about 4g
250ml. Soy vanilla milk
1 plastic spoon
1 plastic strainer
1 a glass with a wide opening
1 glass for storage in refrigerator
You need a teaspoonful of milk kefir grains.
Place these in the glass with 250ml soy vanilla milk and leave it for 24-48 hours at room temperature. I pour the Kefir after approximately 24 hours over a plastic strainer into a bowl and it makes my breakfast.
The kefir grains, well drained, come into a fresh glass and with Soy milk for 24h. I’ve heard different views and keep it like Donna Schwenk and do not rinse the grains. Most of I have learned about fermentation from her, her books and website . She has been doing this for over 15 years and has witnessed amazing health changes herself and with her family.
You can get grains online for example. I got them at Ebay Berlin. And I have exchanged the kefir grains for a glass of my homemade strawberry jam. What I really love- to exchange.
You can order them also at www.culturedfoodlife.com
Any ferments reacts to metal- it eats metal;) – therefore always make sure that you only touch your kefir grains with ceramics, wood, glass or plastic.
Also important is to keep everything clean, what touches the grains.
I use only soy vanilla milk from dm. I have tried a lot and my kefir turns out the best with this soy vanilla milk. It turns out creamy and the vanilla gives it an extra fine taste nuance. So you go and try which one is your favorite.
The Sojavanille Kefir is a very nice substitute for dairy yoghurt.
Several days ago I have changed my breakfast porridge to kefir with oatmeal, chia seeds or flax seeds & dried fruits. My body likes it.
